What is Propylene Glycol USP?
When Propylene Glycol is referred to as USP, it means it has been packaged in conformance to USP requirements and has been packaged in a class 8 clean room. This product is considered a food grade propylene glycol and can be used in water systems where food contact may be possible or it may be used direct in food.

Beware when purchasing online. There are many companies repackaging 55 gallon drums of Propylene Glycol USP into 16 oz to 15 gallon containers. These small companies are referring to the repackaged product as Food Grade or Propylene Glycol USP. Glycol products repackaged outside of a class 8 clean room are no longer considered USP grade and should not be used in food or food applications. When purchasing glycol online, make sure to ask if the product was packaged in a class 8 clean room. You are responsible for knowing all of your food grade sources and will be held responsible for products nonconforming to this standard if a quality issue arises.
